IE8 Released, Download, Auto Update

May 2009

Microsoft has just released IE8 (Internet Explorer Version 8.0) to the general public and as of early May 2009 has started pumping it out to unsuspecting Windows XP users via their Windows Auto Update feature. Whilst this shouldn't be anything to worry about too much, there are usually some wrinkles in any new release. One difference with IE8 is that post install it will ask you a series of questions about additional "things" IE can do in the background, whilst viewing pages (such as Compatability View which  with my limited testing so far doesn't actually do what it claims to do, as at May 11th anyway), so as with all things new... use with caution.

As a fallback option, or as in my case, a primary option in the first place, I highly reccommend using the Firefox broswer for general Internet browsing tasks. Yes, there are still some sites that won't work properly with it, but they are few these days, so go on... give Firefox a whirl today!

If this sounds too messy, or you get stuck or hit a problem, feel free to give me a call on 0407-311-198, or email me, and I'll be more than happy to come to you and fix this problem, or any others you may have.
